This year’s Thanks Day, a day of celebration on the anniversary of the registration of the Tong-Len Charitable trust, was held in the company of hundreds of guests from the student’s families, state government, local dignitaries, Dalai Lama Trust, sponsors and supporters from alll aroundth e world.  The theme for the 21st Thanks Day was a « Year of Compassion » to jointly celebrate with the 90th birthday of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.

Before the celebrations started the new school kitchen was inaugurated by a ribbon cutting ceremony performed by the Chief Guest the honorable Shri Raghubir Singh Bali, Cabinet rank Minister, Himachal Pradesh. Jamyang, the founder and Director of Tong-Len Charitable Trust, gave a heartfelt thank you to all supporters and in particular to the partner charities who raise the funds that make Tong-Len possible including His Holiness the 14 th  Dalai Lama, the Dalai Lama Trust, Tong-Len UK, the Fontana Foundation, Pencil Tree, Agir Ensemble pour Tong-Len and all other sponsors and funders.

During the Thanks Day there were many wonderful performances, dances and a very topical drama about the potential addiction to mobile phone usage and misinformation on the internet.  Tong-Len Social Awards were presented to two individuals and one organisation for their compassion and impact in serving the community. In the Chief Guest’s speech he praised Tong-Len’s selfless dedication to
the under-priviliged community through the provision of education, vocational training and health services and he committed to supporting this noble work.  After a final thank you the ceremony was followed by lunch for all the hundreds of guests with the majority of the food being prepared in the new school kitchen.

It was a day that was full of joy and happiness and truly showed the spirit of compassion.
