The Tong-Len Vocational Training Centre was established in 2020 to provide skills training for employment. It is open to any of the Tong-Len students who have completed year 10 and is also available to other young people from impoverished backgrounds.
The training centre has been supported from the outset by the Fontana Foundation not only financially but through its guidance and advice.
A total of 120 students have completed vocational training, with 70 specializing in electrician skills and 50 in tailoring. This training has proven advantageous for them, opening doors to employment opportunities, and providing avenues for additional income through jobs, entrepreneurship, or the flexibility of working from home, particularly for female candidates. More recently, a driving school has been started. This will enable young individuals to pursue employment opportunities which would involve driving.
