We are very excited to report our new 4 storey school building is completed and in use. We are very grateful to The Pencil Tree charity for partnering with us in our school and hostel projects. The Pencil Tree charity started when a few Australian friends visited India and realised that many kids were going to school without even a basic pencil to use. This charity, founded and directed by Steve Bellamy, now makes a difference in the lives of hundreds of children in India and Nepal. We especially wish to thank them for their magnificent fund-raising efforts in covering the complete costs of the new Tong-Len school building. Classes from kindergarten to 8th grade have now moved into the new building thus freeing space in the hostels to allow more children to be given much-needed residential accommodation. The new school building also includes space for a science and computing lab to provide opportunities for our students to learn through experimentation.
The new building was inaugurated by Stevie Bellamy on Thanks Day. He paid tribute to the amazing work and dedication of the staff at Tong-Len Charitable Trust and spoke of his joy at seeing the school completed, which was only a dream just 12 months previously.
