The Tong-Len Vocational Training Centre has now trained 30 students on its Construction Electrician Course. The curriculum and facilities have been inspected and approved by NSDC (National Skill Development Corporation of India). Our first batch of trainees are doing field internships and will be completing these by the end of September. The second batch of trainees started training in July 2021. A few of the first batch of students have secured work, but currently work opportunities are limited because of the impact of the COVID 19 crisis. In addition a tailoring course has also been started. The ten students in the first group are progressing well. They will be completing their course by October when it is hoped internships for them wil be secured. We are extremely grateful to the Fontana Foundation for funding the pilot of the vocational education programme.
