The Tong-Len health project is a co-operation project of the Dalai Lama Trust serving the slum communities in the Kangra valley. It provides a range of health facilities, including hospital follow-up and antenatal care. Over the last 6 months approximately 5000 people have benefited from the Tong-Len Health and Laboratory services.
In recent months many families have required emergency support for operations, post-operative care, transfusions, vaccinations, and blood tests. In addition, the health team has continued to run the regular clinics for under-fives, wound dressing, immunization of kids, antenatal care etc. Continuing support is offered to tuberculosis patients and to those with drug addiction and/or alcohol addiction.
